Registration Policy for Bengal Cats (UK)

Breed Number 76

  1. Full Register

    Bengals with Championship status and Bengals with provisional status which have only Bengals in their pedigrees, within three generations, shall be placed on the Full Register, with the exception of those cats whose pedigrees include, within three generations, a Bengal with Preliminary Status or a Bengal Variant.

  2. Supplementary Register

    Bengals with Championship status and Bengals with Provisional status which have only Bengals and Bengal variants in their pedigrees, within three generations, shall be placed on the Supplementary Register.

  3. Experimental Register

    Bengals with Preliminary status which have only Bengals or Bengal Variants, within three generations, shall be placed on the Experimental Register.

  4. Reference Register


    4.1 - All cats of Bengal type and/or pattern which have in their pedigrees, within three generations, any breeds other than Bengals and Bengal variants (see Note (i)) shall be placed on the Reference Register.
    4.2 - Blue Spotted Bengals and Blue Marbled Bengals shall be placed on the Reference register until Preliminary Recognition is granted to them.
    4.3 - The progeny of Bengals mated to any breeds other than Bengals shall be placed on the Reference Register and shall not be registered as Bengal Variants.
    4.4 - The progeny of Asian Leopard Cats mated to any breeds other than Bengals shall be placed on the Reference Register and shall not be registered as Bengals.
    4.5 - Non-agouti progeny of Bengals shall be placed on the Reference Register and shall not be registered as Bengals.
    4.6 - Long-haired progeny of Bengals shall be placed on the Reference Register and shall not be registered as Bengals.

NOTES:

(i) Only Bengal-Abyssinian Variants using Breed Number 23 (excluding Silvers, Reds, Creams and Torties) and Bengal-Burmese Variants using Breed Number 27 (excluding Reds, Creams and Torties) that exist at the time of approval by Council of this registration will be acceptable.
(ii) Imported F1 Bengals shall be registered on the Reference Register without progression.
(iii) When Provisional Recognition is granted, all F1 Bengals shall be registered an the Reference Register without progression. (It is understood that the Executive Committee will not recommend Provisional Recognition unless all outcrosses to Asian Leopard Cats cease at that point).
(iv) Imported F2 Bengals, or later generations, with certified pedigrees from a recognised registering body, which includes breeds that are outside this Registration Policy, will be registered as Bengals with their generations recorded from the Asian Leopard Cat outcross.
(v) This Registration Policy will be effective from 25th June 1997.
