Neutering and declawing

Can Bengal cats be declawed and/or neutered and still win shows?

Anne Randall replies

Declawing of cats is definately not allowed in the UK and in my opinion quite rightly so, and you certainly cannot show a cat that has been declawed and as far as I am aware this applies to the rest of Europe as well. It is also generally frowned upon in the US, but I believe there are a few vets that will perform this rather uncertain procedure which can lead to deformity for life. More information about declawing can be found at http://www.defiant.net/declaw.html

However, it is fine to show both male and female neuters. Naturally when they get to full maturity it is much easier to show a male neuter and there are probably more neuters at shows than there are entire cats in the adult classes. In the UK if they reach championship status they are called Premiers and their show status is just the same as an entire cat but they will be entered in separate classes.
